General information
Sveki Boarding school offers special primary education and three- year- long courses of professional education to children with special needs.
Pupils of primary school learn by special programm forprimary school learners. In order to prepare students to practical life, simultaneously with primary school subjects students learn „Craft” and technologies, as well as sewing, cooking, handicrafts, and „Basics of Gardening” are includedin the programm as separate subjects. 2 foreign languages are taught in school – English and Russian. Language correction work is done by a Speech Therapist. Students have a possibility to attend therapeutic exercises and rhythmics. There is also an opportunity to get bike license. Finishing 9th form students get state’s approved Certificate of Primary Education.
After finishing primary school students are offered to continue their education studying Professional courses. There are three different professions students can aqcuire:
- Professional primary education in programm „Construction works” in the 1st professional qualification „Repairer”’
- Professional primary education in programm „Catering Services”in the 1st professional qualification „Chef’s Assistant”
- Professional primary education in programm” Commercial Studies”’in the 1st professional qualification „Sales Area Stuff”
Students of thelast course, the 3rd one, have a possibility to get tractor’s license.
After three year courses students have to pass the State centralized exam and get a certificate of Professional qualification, which expand opportunities to get a good job after finishing school.
Sveki school is one of the most beautiful among Gulbene appanage schools. School’s facade had been renovated, as well as there had been interior renovation done, and landscape gardening project as well. School’s heating system is made according to European standarts.
Lessons take place in well arranged, cosy rooms. There is a modern, equiped with last technologies „Chef’s assistant” room, where are 8 working places with modern electrical and household goods, room for students of ” Repairer” programm, and room for learning concreting work. There is a computer room with the access to the Internet and a math room with an interactive board in the school. Pupils of younger classes can rest in a relaxation room, there are ball baths and slides. Students of middle and older age develope and improve their athletic skills in the school’s gym. There are light and cosy learning and relaxation rooms created for „C” level students. Outside, next to the school there is a modern complex of training equipment.
In our school all studying materials for students are for free. In order to broaden perspectives and relaxation possibilities, there are organized free excursions to the most beautiful places in Latvia, as well as to the different museums, exibitions and industrial enterprises. All the students have Access to the modern, well equiped, and cosy library with varied assortiment of books. The library wors also as an information centre with computers, which have the Internet Access. The students regularly participare in regional compeitions, and work in children jury.
When lessons are over students have some free time when they do their homeworks, spend their time in the boarding school under the care of teachers. Each student in the school have free accomodation. Twice a week the school remunerates transport tickets, if children have to get home using any public transport. As well as each student in the school has free four-time catering. School has wholesome sanitary conditions – renovated toilet and bathrooms, washing machine. There is also regular and qualitative medical care, which is done by two nurses and pediatrician. Psychologist gives advice and consults.
Students’ talents develope during extra-curricular activities. Each student has a right to participate in school’s and other events.
